Year 6 work collaboratively in their Islamic and Arabic lessons taught by knowledgeable and experienced teachers.
Children in year 6 use a programme called “Mathletics”. We use it to consolidate our hands-on learning and to play interactive educational maths games.
During Sports Day, we competed in a range of athletics and track and field races ensuring everyone got the opportunity to participate.
Here are some of the children getting ready to compete in the relay race. We have four houses in our school represented by four different colours.
Year 6 we invited to go to our sister school Al Bateen and watch the full dress rehearsal of Alice in Wonderland. We also have some very talented actors and singers in our year group who cannot wait to be involved in theatre productions in high school.
LEMA came to visit us and helped us to better understand the body and circulatory system during an interactive workshop.
We were hard at work studying artists who gave us inspiration to begin creating our own cityscapes. Here we are putting in the background of our cityscape.
We welcomed our families to view our amazing art exhibition “Inspired by Skylines: Cityscapes”. The exhibition was a huge success and we even had a VIP visitor!
6 had an amazing time on their annual residential trip to Wadi Adventure in Al
Ain. they Visited the Sheikh Zayed Desert Learning Centre helped to educate us on the UAE
landscape, flora and fauna. We
used maths in the real world, by preparing a shopping list and budget for our
visit to Lulu’s to buy ingredients for chocolate making. We
have been using ‘Spicynodes’ to help us organise our ideas and plan for our
in year 6 had to opportunity to learn the art of ‘Mind Mapping’ with a training
expert who normally works with adults! During
our National Day celebrations, we created inspiring art to reflect the UAE
skyline in the past and the present. At
the Winter Souq, our enterprising year 6 children sold their home made
truffles, and many groups made a profit!
6 had a fantastic day doing a range of activities celebrating everything that
is amazing about Al Muna. Miss
Nejwa helped us to created Happy 5th Birthday cards for Al Muna by
using our unique thumbprints! Author
of the fantastic kid’s series Young Samurai, Chris Bradford came to school and
taught us all about his characters and showed us what it takes to be a samurai
with a sword. In
order to create the best chocolates, we of course had to taste test chocolates!
We learnt lots of new vocabulary to describe food in this lesson. In
our groups, we investigated shapes that would be suitable for packaging our
top of the school has some benefits! Year 6 was the lucky year group chosen to
go to Marina Mall and build sumo robots! Our
preparation for high school starts early! On this day we went to our sister
school Al Bateen and worked on building a space satellite. Our
school is equipped with the latest software and technology because we
understand the most up to date information can be found on the world wide web.
We use ICT for much of our learning. In maths this term, we have looked at number, space and shape
and data. We use materials to help us understand and our teaching assistants
are always ready to help.
