Al Muna Academy is a safe and nurturing
environment where all students are challenged to become life-long learners. The
counsellor in partnership with teachers, administrators, and parents work
toward a goal of helping students develop socially and emotionally. In
addition, the counsellor helps students to achieve their academic goals. On occasion, counsellors may instruct classroom
guidance lessons in the classroom. Topics may include: conflict resolution,
friendship, and acceptance.
Counsellors also facilitate small group sessions on
topics such as:social skills, grief, and changing families. Students meet with
counsellor weekly to develop coping skills or interventions appropriate to the

implement the School Counseling Program by providing: Responsive Services:
Individual counseling and small group sessions.
Individual/family/school crisis intervention.
Consultation with parents, teachers, and/or administrators.
Referrals for families.
School Guidance Support:
Academic support including organizational and test-taking skills.
Education on understanding self and others.
Communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution.
